Mountain Boarding, Mountain Boarding Centre, Chichester – learn some cool moves as you try your hand at this seriously fun extreme sport. Limited free places when you book in advance through Countryside 2011.

Driving Heavy Horses (course), Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, Chichester – harness up and drive the museum’s draft horses in the field and on the track, try your hand at chain harrowing, and shaft and pole work.

‘Introduction to Gliding’ course, Parham Airfield, Storrington – enjoy a one-day course (including three flying lessons) designed to give you a real insight into what gliding is all about.

Petworth Peg Doll House Family Workshop, Petworth House, Petworth – build and paint your own version of Petworth House in miniature. Design your own wallpaper and furniture and make Lord and Lady peg-dolls to live inside your beautiful creation.

Shoreham Food and Drink Festival, Shoreham by Sea – savour the delights on offer from local and regional producers and suppliers of speciality food and drink in a beautiful riverside location.
