Technical questions

There are a few technical questions we frequently get asked about the site. Please see if your problem is listed below but if not please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@countryside.org.uk so we can help you.

Unable to login

Account not found / activated
Have you activated your account? If not click on the activation link in the email you were sent when registering.

Unable to activate account
If you get an error message saying this page is not available when you click on the activation link this is because the account has already been activated. You should be able to login to the site and start adding events right away.

Forgotten password
For security reasons we don’t have a copy of your password so are unable to provide them to you over the phone. Instead you must reset them using the forgotten password form. This will send a link to the registered email which will enable you to set a new password.

Unable to add dates to your event

Getting the error message: the URL is too long
The URL of pages on the Countryside 2011 website can only be a total of 75 characters in length. The URL of your event is based on the title you give it, so the title should be as succinct as possible. When the event title is too long your event will still be saved but you won’t be able to add any dates.

Change the title of your event to something shorter, scroll down to the bottom of the event page and hit the update button. After this you will be able to add dates to your entry.

The dates I want to add aren’t available
Countryside 2011 runs from 28th May to 12th June. You are unable to add dates outside of this.

There is a problem with my event on the site

The event pin is at the wrong location
Double check that you have entered a valid postcode and try removing the grid reference. By default if the system does not recognise the postcode the pin will be located at Berwick on Tweed.

My event page is blank
This is most likely due to either strange characters in the event title or because of an issue with the image you have uploaded. Check the title of the event contains letters or numbers only and remove the photo. Please note that images must be less than 500kb but if they are close to the maximum size it can still create problems with your event listing. Images should be in JPG or GIF format only.

My event isn’t shown in searches
Check that you have set your event status to Confirmed. This will enable it to be found within the event directory. Setting your event to Provisional will allow you to save your event details but it will not be displayed on the site.
