For everyone lucky enough to live in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, here’s a tip on how to beat the Boxing Day bulge.
When you fancy some fresh air over Christmas, and even the dog is bored with the park, don’t bother getting the car out. Simply go to the Chilterns AONB website http://www.chilternsaonb.org/activities.asp , type in your place name or post code, and up will come details of walks and rides within three miles of home. Walks vary in length from half a mile to seven miles or more. Choices include stile-free walks, pushchair and wheelchair routes and family strolls with a quiz for the kids. There are walks from cosy village pubs, routes that climb to panoramic viewpoints and peaceful rambles through landscapes dotted with ancient forts and burial mounds. And for cyclists and horse-riders, there are plenty of routes to choose from too.
