Abingdon Air & Country Show – 2nd May
Posted on 30/04/10
Oxfordshire’s great charity fund-raiser presents three hours of Flying Displays, ground attractions for all the family, vintage and classic vehicles and a superb walk round Static Display of modern & vintage aeroplanes gathered for the event.
Once again, Abingdon’s popular annual event is even more than an air show!
The afternoon Flying Programme lasts approximately 3 hours and includes military & civilian types, with around 11 different items displaying. The Static Aircraft Display assembled for viewing will include just about all the Flying Display participants who fly in for the event. Weather permitting, notable participants expected include an OV-10 Bronco, RAF Merlin, RAF Puma, RAF Agusta 109, Harvard, US Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter and hopefully the return of the gigantic Boeing C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft – or a C-130J Hercules – plus around 60 light aviation types.
RAF C-17 – star of the static display in 2009.
Ground attractions range from the RBS Williams F1 show car to tank rides and sheepdog demonstrations. The bumper selection of vintage and classic vehicles will include miniature steam engines, classic cars, police cars, buses, ex-military vehicles, a steam roller and much more.
Have fun and help a good cause: it’s all in aid of the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance which, like all Air Ambulance services in the UK, is funded entirely by donations from the public and private companies.
