Ashridge on Screen in the new Russell Crowe movie
Posted on 14/05/10

Russell Crowe stars as Robin Hood in Sir Ridley Scott’s new adaptation of the famous tale which opens at cinemas this week. Filmed in the Ashridge estate you can explore this lovely location during COUNTRYSIDE 2011!

Filming for the scenes in the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate took place in April last year, when crews descended to set up a small farmstead and livestock pens in the forest.

Set in superb scenery, the estate is a popular filming hot spot and in recent years has provided a backdrop for scenes in Harry Potter, EastEnders and the Robert De Niro money-spinner, Stardust.

Guided walks for COUNTRYSIDE 2011 explore the wonderful woodlands of the Ashridge Estate and take in stunning views around Ivinghoe Beacon, the panoramic viewpoint which marks the northern end of the 85 mile Ridgeway National Trail.

To join the walks, look for these two entries in the Buckinghamshire section of the Event Directory: Ashridge Woods, Aldbury & Views to the Beacon (on 30th May) and Ashridge & Ivinghoe on The Ridgeway National Trail (on 13th June).
