Free Sites Unlocked
Posted on 28/03/10

English Heritage has come up with a modern way of providing information about free historic sites that are free to the public.

Of the 400 sites that English Heritage looks after, more than 240 are unstaffed and open to the public at all reasonable times.

Free Sites Unlocked is an E“nglish Heritage”:http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.10612 project seeking to improve the information available about these free sites.

For some properties you can download a short audio tour, letting your iPod, mobile phone or mp3 player be your guide as you walk around the site. Each tour contains stories and interviews with experts, helping to bring these fascinating sites alive.

The Free Sites Project is partly funded through donations and bequests from the public.
