The Ridgeway National Trail follows ancient landscapes for 87 miles, from Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire. From Avebury, it follows the same route used since prehistoric times by travelers, herdsmen and soldiers, emerging from the chalk hills and woodlands of the Chilterns to the panoramic viewpoint at Ivinghoe Beacon.
Spot wild flowers of the Chilterns on this Sunday’s Ridgeway walk.
National Trail leaders are conducting two guided walks in Buckinghamshire on 13th June to explore highlights of this very scenic trail. The 11-mile walk through Ashridge Estate is a chance to enjoy the wonderful panorama from Ivinghoe Beacon. The walk from Whiteleaf, near Princes Risborough, looks at the chalkland flowers and woodland plants of the Chilterns, many of which were used in the past for cures and potions. Experts and white witches are welcome!
