The annual opening of artists’ studios around South East England is an enormously popular event. Artists and craftspeople in different parts of the region open their studios to the public or put on joint exhibitions to present their work, to give demonstrations and to chat to visitors about what they do.
A wide range of original works are for sale and entry to the studios and exhibitions is usually free. Many to the studios and venues are in rural settings and the subjects of much of the work on show reflects artists’ interest in their local countryside.
This last weekend of COUNTRYSIDE 2011 marks the start of the 25th Bucks Open Studios, which runs from 12th – 27th June. 400 artists and makers are exhibiting their work in over 150 different venues across Buckinghamshire.
