Visit Private Gardens Open this May Bank Holiday
Posted on 30/04/10

Treat yourself to a blooming wonderful May Bank Holiday by visiting one of the many gardens opening their gates to the public this weekend for The National Gardens Scheme.

Spectacular displays of bluebells, tulips, rhododendrons, azaleas, lilac and wisteria are amongst the treats in store at gardens that will be open for charity this first May Bank Holiday as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

A full listing of garden openings can be found in the NGS Yellow Book 2011 (available from all good book stores) or on the NGS website. The website includes a special listing of Bluebell Gardens and presents a small selection of other gardens that are bound to inspire a visit.

Their irresistible example for South East England is Old Croft in Surrey, a five-acre ‘paradise garden’ with a tropical bamboo maze, an amazing topiary buttress hedge, stream, lake, bog gardens, woodland, elevated ‘hide’ and breathtaking scenery.

Enjoy your choices this weekend and look out for details of more NGS gardens opening next Bank Holiday in our COUNTRYSIDE 2011 Event Directory.
